The joint World Food Safety Day 2021 celebration hosted by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) and Environmental Health Australia (EHA) was recognized in the recently released World Food Safety Day 2021 report. This report, jointly released by the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, highlights around 300 different events organized for World Food Safety Day (June 7, 2021).
World Food Safety Day 2021 celebrations were held in 90 countries by governments, businesses, nongovernmental organizations, international organizations, academics, and individuals. Events included webinars, videos, press conferences, media coverage, contests, social media posts, and campaigns involving millions of people under the theme of "Safe Food Now for a Healthy Tomorrow." The summary report offers glimpses into many of these events.
NEHA and EHA recognized World Food Safety Day 2021 with a marathon 24-hour event featuring an opening address by Frank Yiannas, Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response at the Food and Drug Administration, followed by a series of short conversations with food safety regulators from all around the world, offering a peek into how we keep retail food safe for the global community. A compilation video featuring highlights from our speakers at this event is available on NEHA’s World Food Safety Day webpage along with the full recordings of each speaker.
